H.3573 & S.1401: An Act to protect the civil rights and safety of all Massachusetts residents (Safe Communities Act)
Overview
In the current climate, immigrants in Massachusetts are increasingly vulnerable and isolated, avoiding medical treatment, emergency services, and court or police protection for fear that they or their family members will be deported. The Safe Communities Act restores confidence in local public institutions by allowing our police and court officials to focus on public safety instead of getting tangled up in immigration enforcement.

S.2061: An Act relative to work and family mobility (Driver’s License Bill)
Overview
Under current law, you can’t get a driver’s license in Massachusetts without proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful presence. For as many as 250,000 undocumented immigrants in our communities, this can create enormous hardships. This bill would enable all qualified state residents to apply for a standard state driver’s license, regardless of immigrant status, while keeping our Commonwealth in full compliance with REAL ID requirements.
