Advocacy Day
The AAC’s annual Advocacy Day at the State House serves to connect local community organizations with the State. The event features panel discussions on topics such as health disparities, problem gambling, data disaggregation, and immigration policies & legislation impacting AAPI communities.
Health & Human Services
The AAC’s Health & Human services committee aims to address health disparities within the AAPI community. The committee has convened health care summits and workshops to provide multilingual access to healthcare resources.
Young Leaders Symposium
The AAC’s Young Leaders Symposium introduces Asian American students and young professionals to leadership and service in the public sector. The half-day symposium will feature speakers and workshops on topics such as running for office, understanding how a bill becomes law, careers in government, Asian American representation in politics, and more. Through the Symposium seeks to identify and support the development of future Asian American leaders.
Resource Fairs
The AAC’s traveling Resource Fair brings information on state and federal resources to Asian American residents around Massachusetts. These resources include information and support on topics such as equal employment, consumer protection, career planning, health awareness, small business administration, housing opportunities, and more. The Commission developed its replicable Resource Fair model to bring our government closer to the people it serves and support local communities.
Legislation
The AAC is committed to supporting policies and legislation that uplift the AAPI community. The Commission currently is in support of the Safe Communities Act (S.1401 and H.3573), the Work and Family Mobility Act (H.3012 and S.2061), and An Act ensuring equitable representation in the Commonwealth (HD. 3732).
